Citrix SME / Senior Citrix Engineer

Location: Remote United States
Employment Type: Contract
Rate: $50 $65/hr
Experience: 7+ years

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Citrix SME / Senior Citrix Engineer to provide hands-on administration, engineering, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise Citrix virtual application and desktop environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix DaaS/Cloud, Citrix ADC/NetScaler, StoreFront, MCS/PVS, and Citrix policies .

This is a fully remote role requiring strong independent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work with infrastructure, networking, security, identity, and application teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L3 technical support and SME-level troubleshooting for enterprise Citrix environments.
• Administer and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), XenApp/XenDesktop, and Citrix DaaS .
• Manage Citrix Delivery Controllers, VDAs, StoreFront, Studio, Director, Machine Catalogs, and Delivery Groups .
• Configure and maintain Citrix policies, published applications, published desktops, and user access .
• Support MCS and/or PVS provisioning, image management, VDA deployment, and maintenance.
• Administer Citrix ADC/NetScaler , including Gateway, load balancing, SSL certificates, authentication, and traffic policies.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving user logons, application launches, VDA registration, session disconnects, latency, printing, profiles, and connectivity .
• Support Citrix Profile Management/UPM, FSLogix, and Windows user profiles .
• Monitor and optimize Citrix environments using Citrix Director and other monitoring tools .
• Perform Citrix upgrades, patching, migrations, configuration changes, and vulnerability remediation .
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring and major incidents.
• Work closely with Active Directory, Windows, VMware, Azure, networking, security, and storage teams .
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for Citrix administration and automation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
• Participate in maintenance windows and provide occasional after-hours support when required.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to L1/L2 support teams.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of hands-on Citrix administration/engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)
  • Citrix DaaS / Citrix Cloud
  • Citrix StoreFront
  • Citrix Studio & Director
  • Citrix Delivery Controllers & VDAs
  • MCS and/or PVS
  • Citrix Policies
  • Citrix Profile Management / UPM
• Strong experience with Citrix ADC/NetScaler
  • Citrix Gateway
  • Load Balancing
  • SSL certificates
  • Authentication/MFA
  • Traffic policies
• Strong troubleshooting experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and networking .
• Experience with VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Azure .
• Strong PowerShell scripting/automation skills.
• Experience working in enterprise production environments and handling L2/L3 escalations .
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
